Nurses are the focus this week.
So here are some tips that I read from a nursing website that can help you keep your cool with 'hot headed' patients when you start your new nurse career!
Nurse: We understand that you are not feeling well or you may be dealing with a very serious illness, however, that does not mean you can walk all over me and treat me without respect!
- So, demand respect in a professional manner.
Nurse: I can't get this patient to let me administer the prescribed medication.
-Ask for help! Make sure you ask the doctors and or nurse supervisors to help you if you have a difficult patient!
Nurse: GOD! Please help me!
-Yes, you can ask or call upon any being that you wish for the patience you will need to deal with these 'hot heads'!
Nurse: You will get through this... let's stay calm, cool, and collected. I am here for you.
-Be positive and stay focused. Tell the patient you are there for them. They need the reassurance.
These are some tips. I hope you join me on my call tomorrow night or every Wednesday night!
