Founded as Florida Programming and Educational Center, Inc., the College’s first classes began in September 1982 in Miami, Florida. In 1990, the School started using the name Florida Computer and Business School. Through the years, the school has grown and expanded with additional courses and programs to match student skills with the needs of the computer industry and business sectors.

In 1999, the School became a Microsoft IT Academy. The School opened its second campus in January 2000, in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The West Palm Beach Campus opened and started classes September 2002. The fifth campus in Lauderdale Lakes was opened in August 2005. In 2002, the College was awarded collegiate status by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. The Commission for Independent Education also approved the College’s curriculum for Allied Health Medical Programs.

In July 2006, the Clearwater and Brandon campus locations, formerly EduTech Centers, were acquired and renamed Florida Career College in February 2007.

Florida Career College places great emphasis on assisting graduates in finding employment in their field of study. The Career Center will advise the students of career opportunities and will begin assisting them with their job search months before they graduate. School staff will help create a professional resume and sharpen students' interviewing skills. We take pride in the ever-growing number of employers that are aware of the quality of our graduates. Our staff maintain professional relationships with potential employers in an ongoing effort to expand our employment base.

Our network of successful graduates is constantly growing, allowing us to provide an even more effective employment assistance service through referrals and recommendations. This alone gives our students a tremendous advantage. Florida Career College is not permitted by law to guarantee employment. All programs are designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions. By assisting students with job search services, the Career Services Department makes every effort to secure positions for graduates.
